First offer comes in for NC safety

Charlotte (N.C.) Myers Park safety Katyree Simpson has hauled in his first scholarship. Who did the 6-foot-1, 205-pounder get the offer from and does he have any favorites?
"I've got one offer so far from East Carolina," he said. "To be honest, I like their program, but they might be a bit too far away.

"I really like South Carolina. I like the coaches and I visited the school for a junior day. I went down one day to check out the weight room and I like how they treat their players. The campus is really nice too."
South Carolina along with North Carolina State and others are also showing interest.
This weekend Simpson plans to head to NC State for a junior day.
Although South Carolina is an early favorite, what is the Carolina prospect looking for in a school?
"I want them to have a good academic program. It's not all about football," he said. "The first thing for me is grades. I kind of want to study architecture if I can. I'm also looking for a good program and then somewhere I'm comfortable that is not too far away from home."
Simpson posted 80 tackles and four interceptions as a junior last season, his first as a starter.
"I really saw myself getting bigger, faster and I improved a lot academically this past season," he said. "I would like to improve my agility even more and get a lot faster over the next year."
