First offer comes for Texas QB

South Garland (Texas) High School quarterback Nick Florence is on the board with his first scholarship offer and a heap of recruiting mail to go with it.
The 6-foot-2, 167-pounder found out on Friday that his first offer was coming from an in-state Big 12 school. Florence was excited and surprised to say the least. Regardless, he's still listening to what other schools have to say.

"I got offered on Friday by Baylor," Florence said. "I was thrilled. It was awesome getting the first offer and it's a school that I'm very much interested in. It was a surprise to me though. I wasn't ready for that."
Florence says that the Bears are considered the early leader.
"I would say Baylor is up there," Florence said. "It's my comfort level with them. I know a bunch of people that live near there, some from my church, and my youth pastor is moving down there in August. It's a very homey place as far as the people go."
A trip was on the verge of happening early this week to Baylor, but with spring break coming up, Florence says he'll head to Waco then. He's also planning to take a trip to SMU this week.
"I get a lot of stuff from Nebraska and SMU," Florence said. "I'm also talking to Purdue and Minnesota a little bit."
Florence says he plans to make a decision before the summer begins.
