First offer comes for Pennsylvania OT

Offensive tackle Mike Farrell out of Pittsburgh (Pa.) Shady Side Academy has picked up his first scholarship offer. The 6-foot-5, 285-pounder landed the offer from the MAC.
"I got an offer from Miami (Ohio)," he said. "I was really excited about it, it was the first one.

"I didn't know a lot about them until I made a visit there last Thursday. I really liked the trip and the school has a lot to offer. I was surprised to see how much money they are putting in their athletics. I also liked the coaching staff, they were really nice and it seemed like a good family atmosphere. The coaches talked to me about the environment and how the coaches and players hang out after practice."
After the visit to Miami (Ohio), Farrell stopped through Pittsburgh for practice.
"I was down at Pitt for practice on Friday," he said. "They told me that they want to see my first few scrimmages before they do something. I'm also talking to Penn State and Virginia."
Does the lineman prospect have any plans to attend games this fall?
"Pittsburgh is sending me all of their home game tickets," he said. "I'll probably go to those since it's a short trip and then Penn State and Miami (Ohio) are too. I haven't scheduled anything yet."
Farrell and Shady Side Academy kick off the season on September 1st.
