First offer comes for Missouri DT

Blackburn (Mo.) Santa Fe defensive tackle Kurtis Gregory recently altered the list of his top three schools. This alteration was due to the first scholarship offer making it’s way to the Gregory house.
“Everything is going really good,” the 6-foot-6, 295-pound Gregory said. “I picked up my first scholarship offer a couple weeks ago. Kansas offered me when I went to their junior day two weeks ago. They were pretty high on me and wanted to get the offer in my hands. I got to see the facilities and meet the coaches while I was there.”

The trip to Lawrence wasn’t the only unofficial visit for Gregory that weekend.
“I also went to K-State that weekend,” he said. “They told me I was high on their list right now. I was the only one there. The recruiting coordinator spoke to us and then coach (Mo) Latimore, the defensive line coach, took us on a facility tour and showed us around. I would have gone to K-State’s junior day, but I have the ACT to take that day and our prom is that night.”
Gregory’s first unofficial visit of the spring came when he took a Feb. 16 trip to Columbia.
“I went to Missouri’s junior day,” he said. “That was my first trip. I had a good trip there, too. I saw most of their facilities and met a lot of people then. I did have Missouri at the top of my list. Now, after the other two trips, I would say Kansas and K-State are at the top of the list and then Missouri. If I had to pick today, it would be Kansas, because they have the offer on the table.”
Gregory’s coach received a call from another school the other day requesting film.
“Coach Borland told me that LSU called him the other day and asked for film,” Gregory said. “That is exciting. Who knows what will come of it, but you never know.”
