First offer comes for Baptiste

Offer No. 1 has come in for Virginia Beach (Va.) Ocean Lakes linebacker Matthew Baptiste. The 6-foot-0, 218-pounder landed the offer on Monday from a Division I program.
"I got a verbal offer from Navy," he said. "I thought getting my first offer would be a different experience.

"Coach made it a lot easier to understand and take it in."
Does Baptiste know much about Navy?
"I don't know too much. I'm starting to do research on them and the kind of things they do," he stated. "I have been in touch with Coach Speed. He's kind of like our coach. He's laid back and cool to talk to."
Other schools are interested in Baptiste as well.
"I'm hearing from East Carolina, Marshall and Delaware. I'm starting to receive mail back from Virginia too," he said. "East Carolina has talked about a possible offer. They are supposed to be coming down to speak with me soon."
At this point, Baptiste is very interested in a specific college.
"I'm really liking ECU," he said. "I like the atmosphere and how the school is. I like the coaches and how they take an interest in their students."
Baptiste plans to camp at East Carolina, NC State and perhaps Delaware this summer.
