First offer comes for ATH E.J. Scott

Olney (Md.) Good Counsel athlete E.J. Scott pulled his first offer on Wednesday night. The 5-foot-11, 171-pounder landed the scholarship from the Big East.
"I got it on Wednesday from Rutgers," he said. "I got it in the mail and didn't realize it was an offer until I talked to my trainer, Joe Haden. Then I talked to my coach and I got home and saw it in writing on the kitchen table."

What did Scott think of the offer?
"That was huge," he said. "Rutgers is a really good school and a strong program. I'm excited about that and now I finally have an offer. I've been working for this for awhile.
"I went up there for a camp last year and toured the campus. I liked Rutgers a lot. The facilities are off the charts and it's a good environment. The city is nice and it's a nice all-around place. I like it a lot and my family likes the school a lot too."
Plenty of other schools are interested in Scott as well including Florida State, Virginia, Boston College, Wake Forest, Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, Iowa, Illinois, Connecticut, Pittsburgh and Maryland.
"I'm headed down this weekend to Virginia for their junior day. I've already been to Maryland and Pittsburgh."
Do any schools lead for Scott at this time?
"Not really," he said. "All the schools recruiting me are pretty good and I want to see what happens down the road and then come to a decision.
"I want a nice environment, somewhere I fit in well at and I want playing time and good academics. I'm looking at business. Distance isn't a big issue. I just want somewhere I like if I'm not playing football."
The Maryland prospect is a versatile athlete that could play either side of the ball. What is he getting looked at for?
"I'm getting looks for cornerback and wide receiver," he said. "Rutgers is looking at receiver and I don't really have a preference, but I'd probably pick receiver if I had to choose."
