First D-I offer comes for PA tackle

Offensive tackle Ryan Schlieper has landed his first Division I scholarship recently. The 6-foot-5, 273-pounder out of Wexford (Pa.) North Allegheny added the offer from the Big East.
"He's got a few minor offers, but just a week ago he received an offer from Connecticut," North Allegheny head coach Art Walker said. "He doesn't have any favorites. He's just going through the process attending some camps and is excited about the opportunity especially from UConn."

Connecticut has pulled the trigger, but lots of other schools are in pursuit.
"We've sent tape and heard back from Virginia, Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh, Penn State, West Virginia, Michigan, Michigan State, Maryland, Stanford and Northwestern. All of those schools have been in to see him."
Walker went into detail about his star tackle.
"He has great feet for his size, he moves well, runs well and is strong," he said. "He's good in the weight room and has a big frame, but isn't overweight.
"He just has to keep developing like he has been and get more experience. He should be a very good player. He's a 3.4 student, a weight room kid that works hard."
