First 10: Spotlight decommitments

With the recruiting timetable moving up earlier every year, verbal commitments by underclassmen are becoming a more regular occurrence. But with early commitments also come plenty of players who eventually have a change of heart and end up spurning the school where they originally committed. In this week's First and 10 the Rivals.com National Analyst Team takes a look at the biggest players to change their mind in the class of 2016.

When Little committed to Texas A&M in the summer of 2014, he was between his sophomore and junior years and the Aggies had great momentum on the recruiting trail. Little had a great connection with then-A&M assistant David Beaty and the Aggies had a strong history of putting OLs in the NFL with Luke Joeckel and Jake Matthews being high first-round draft picks. Before his senior season, Little decided to re-open his recruiting process. There had been shake-up on the Aggie coaching staff, and he had been openly flirting with Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss, and others. - Jason Howell, Mid-South analyst

Mique Juarez
Torrance (Calif.) North (USC to undecided)
The top-rated player in California committed to USC in January but backed off his pledge when coach Steve Sarkisian was fired earlier this season. More than the Sarkisian ouster, Juarez felt it was just time to evaluate his options again and do it while being uncommitted to any school. USC is definitely still in the mix and its coaching hire will be important. UCLA is also right there as well. Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Ohio State and Alabama are options but Juarez needs to take visits first before he can figure out what's best. - Adam Gorney, National Recruiting Analyst

Demetris Robertson
Savannah (Ga.) Christian (Alabama to undecided)
Robertson committed to the Tide during July of 2014 and at the time appeared to be set on his decision. But an offer from Stanford appeared to change everything and he backed off of his commitment. He since has entertained the Cardinal, Georgia, Notre Dame, California and Georgia Tech. Despite his decommitment, Alabama is still vigorously pursuing Robertson. - Woody Wommack, Southeast analyst
WR
Nate Craig-Myers
Tampa (Fla.) Catholic (Auburn to undecided)
Craig-Myers backed off his commitment to Auburn months ago and has had his interest piqued by Florida State and Florida. The Gators already hold a verbal commitment from Craig-Myers' step-brother, Jayvaughn Myers, and are the frontrunner to land the five-star wide receiver. Notre Dame and Ohio State are also involved to differing extents. - Cassidy

Daelin Hayes
Ann Arbor (Mich.) Skyline (USC to undecided)
After racking up a mailbox full of scholarship offers during the spring of his sophomore year, Hayes committed to USC on his first visit to the campus the July before his junior season. Hayes maintained that commitment for nearly 15 months, but re-opened his process the day Steve Sarkisian was suspended. Notre Dame immediately became the team to beat, but after official visits to Ohio State, Michigan State and the Irish, the race has tightened up with a December decision expected. - Josh Helmholdt, Midwest analyst

Rahshaun Smith
Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy (Clemson to undecided)
A one-time Clemson commit, Smith broke his pledge when his mentor was hired in a support role at Maryland. Now with Maryland's coaching situation uncertain, projecting where Smith might land on National Signing Day has become exceedingly difficult. The Terrapins and Tigers are still very much in the mix to secure his letter of intent on signing day. - Cassidy
TE
Isaac Nauta
Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy (Florida State to undecided)
Nauta broke his commitment to Florida State early in the season and opened things back up to include a number of schools in a number of conferences. Georgia seems like the team to beat to land the uncommitted Nauta, but Michigan and Alabama are also major players. Nauta's final official visit will be to Oklahoma State. - Cassidy
RB
Kareem Walker
Wayne (N.J.) Depaul Catholic (Ohio State to undecided)
Walker's commitment to Ohio State during the national championship game was a surprise but over the past few months it became evident that a decommitment was becoming more likely. The fact that Michigan is now the favorite to land Walker could make his decommitment sting Buckeye fans that much more. - Adam Friedman, Mid-Atlantic analyst

Wole Betiku
Gardena (Calif.) Junipero Serra (UCLA to undecided)
Prior to his senior season, the four-star defensive end committed to UCLA but planned to keep his options open. After his de-commitment earlier this season, USC became a major player in his recruitment and he has a lot of Serra friends and acquaintances on that team. That could be important. USC and UCLA are in the mix and one source said Betiku is leaning toward staying in Los Angeles. No doubt Texas A&M is involved along with Notre Dame and some others. - Gorney
