Finley close to decision

Compton JC (Calif.) wide out James Finley committed a few years ago to Oregon but ended up at Compton after his SAT test was red flagged. Finley visited Oregon this past weekend and it sounds like a commitment could be coming very soon.

“Man, I had a great time,” Finley said. “I haven’t been there in a couple of years so I got to see all the new things they have done. That place is impressive. The locker rooms, the weight room, the stadium is done now, they have everything you could possibly want in a big time football program.

“Terrence (Whitehead) was my host and it was cool to see him again since we’ve been friends for a long time. I did all the usual things there, toured the campus, met with the coaches and talked a lot with coach Ferigno, the receiver coach there. I went out with the players and had a good time, it just a good overall visit and I definitely plan on committing soon.

“The only holdup is I want to visit UTEP this weekend. They’ve been recruiting me for a long time and set the visit up awhile ago so I feel I owe it to them to trip there. But I really see myself at Oregon. I know everyone there and the team has everyone back next year, they’re going to be very good.”
