Final in-home key with ONeal

Three-star Columbus (Miss.) athlete Gabe O’Neal says he plans to make his college choice this weekend after playing host to one more important in-home visit.

“Memphis came today and (Mississippi) State comes tomorrow,” he said. “I had a good talk with coach Helton and coach Rumph from Memphis. They’re good guys. They talked about how good a season they just had and how their program is coming up. They stressed to me the opportunities I would have both for football and my academics, how I could have a great future with a degree there even after football is over.

“Coach Jones and coach Kitchens are coming from State. After that meeting, I think I’ll know where I’m going.”

Asked what the Bulldogs may have in their favor after that final meeting, he said: “Mainly, it’s the SEC. You get a lot of attention there, especially with the new coach.”

O’Neal is rated the No. 47 athlete in the nation by Rivals.com.
