Filiaga earns MVP honors in Utah

South Jordan (Utah) Bingham linebacker LT Filiaga had a very impressive showing at the recent NIKE Camp in Provo, Utah. Filiaga has established himself as one of the top 'backers in the West and his recruitment has really taken off.
At the NIKE Camp at BYU, Filiaga measured in at a rock solid 5-10.5, 231 pounds and walked away with LB MVP honors after his standout showing.

"Filiaga showed great explosion and aggressiveness," NIKE lead LB coach Chris Gizzi said. "He's a born leader- he was always first in line, gave great effort in every drill and plays with incredible enthusiasm.
"He has great acceleration and closing speed and he's a kid I would love to see with pads on. He's a tremendous competitor and pushed himself hard in the one on one drills. He really excelled in all aspects of the camp and was a pleasure to coach."
On the recruiting front, Filiaga picked up early offers from BYU and Utah and has since added several more.
"I now also have offers from Stanford, Washington, Arizona and UNLV," Filiaga said. "Right now, I'm still really open to all the schools recruiting me and I have no plans for an early decision.
"I want to take all five of my trips before I do anything. I want to focus on my senior season and recruiting is kind of on the backburner right now. Once I take my visits, then I'll be able to make a decision."
