Fields makes his choice

Houston (Tex.) Washington dual-threat quarterback Joe Fields had already visited Syracuse this fall and was considering taking other trips, but after rethinking the situation, he changed his mind. He knew where he wanted to spend the next four years, so why waste everybody’s time?
“I committed to Syracuse yesterday,” he explained. “They just cared about me for more than just football. It is a place where I can get a great education and they offered me at quarterback. It is a great opportunity and a great fit.

“I was tired of everything and the whole process and my heart was there. It was nowhere else, so I just did it.”
He has an in-home visit scheduled with Syracuse next week, and since his mind was already made up, he cancelled his official trip to Wisconsin.
Rated the Rivals.com No. 17 dual-threat quarterback, Fields stands 6-foot-1, weighs 214, and runs the 40-yard dash in 4.6 seconds. He also boasts a 32-inch vertical leap. As a senior he threw for 1768 yards and 20 touchdowns with only four interceptions, and also rushed for 792 yards and 13 scores.
A very good student, he maintains a 3.2 GPA and scored a 930 on the SAT, so he is academically qualified.
