Fernandez gets an offer

Lake Mary (Fla.) inside linebacker Jerod Fernandez landed an offer from N.C. State on Wednesday.
"That is my first offer," Fernandez said. "I called my coach at Lake Mary and he told me that I needed to call the coach at N.C. State. I called Coach (Mike) Reed. He told me that they liked my highlight film. He also said that I have good grades, that they checked on my grades."

The 6-foot-1, 210-pound defender admits he doesn't know a great deal about the Wolfpack at this point. He hopes to change that by visiting with Tom O'Brien and his staff on-campus at N.C. State.
"I do plan to visit," Fernandez said. "Probably some time over the summer."
Fernandez also reports interest from Temple and TCU. When it comes time to make a decision, he is looking for the right traits on and off the field.
"I want to find a place where I am going to get the most playing time and get the best education," Fernandez said. "I want to major in engineering."
As a junior, Fernandez recorded 79 tackles, five tackles for loss, and three sacks.
