Ferguson attending Camp Randall opener

Living in the shadow of the University of Wisconsin with several family connections to the program and already holding an offer from the Badgers, Madison (Wisc.) Memorial 2017 athlete Jake Ferguson was not going to miss this weekend's home opener.
"I've been to a bunch of (Wisconsin games)," Ferguson noted. "Obviously I've never been there with an offer watching a game, so it is going to be a different atmosphere for me and I'm going to think totally different when I'm there. I'm going to be watching more of my position and how they run things."

Wisconsin offered Ferguson last April. His brother, Joe Ferguson, is a safety for the Badgers and his grandfather is Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez. With all those connections, though, Ferguson will evaluate Wisconsin the same as every other school.
"I'm putting every team that offers me or has interest in me through the (same) process," Ferguson said. "UW is going to go through the same process as every school, but obviously they are my hometown (team) so it's a little bit (of an advantage)."
Since Sept. 1, Ferguson has heard from Alabama, Minnesota, Notre Dame, Duke and Michigan State. At Alabama he spoke with wide receivers coach Billy Napier.
"Alabama actually invited me to go down there and see one of their games," Ferguson said. "I think I am going to go down there to go watch them play LSU (Nov. 7)."
Most schools are recruiting the 6-foot-5, 210-pound Ferguson as a tight end, and that is a position he feels comfortable at. This season he has lined up at slot receiver and outside receiver for a 1-2 Madison Memorial team, collecting three receiving touchdowns on the season thus far.
"I love tight end," Ferguson said. "I like to block too, so tight end is a really good fit for me."
