Fenelus down to two schools

Fort Lauderdale, Fla., defensive tackle Renold Fenelus has managed to fly beneath the radar screen so far this season, but has recently began to attract attention. The 6-foot-5, 265 pound athlete runs the forty-yard dash in 4.8 seconds and two schools have thought enough of him to extend scholarship offers and to have him in for an official visit.
“Basically I want a home atmosphere and a college where I feel comfortable,” Renold said. “I want a place where I can grow and get help toward my future.

“I have been getting a lot of letters lately, but I really have it down to two -- UCF and Rutgers – and both have offered.” Fenelus will take an official visit to Rutgers on Dec. 5 and one to UCF on Jan. 9 before making a decision. His interest in Rutgers stems from the Scarlet Knights’ camp that he attended in Florida over the summer.
“I am a team player, but I like to get down and dirty on the field,” Renold described his style of play. “I am quiet, but not on the field. I am not boastful, though.”
He patterns himself after Warren Sapp, due to his “size, speed, encouragement, and athleticism.” Although last year was his first year to play organized football, he managed 24 tackles and six sacks as a senior.
Renold is close to qualifying academically with a 2.5 GPA. He took the SAT for the first time earlier this month, and is awaiting the results. He is already scheduled to retake the exam next month, just to be on the safe side.
