FB Making A Name For Himself

Chesapeake (Va.) Western Branch is the home of star linebacker Vince Hall, but he’s not the only prospect at the school getting attention from college programs.
“My top three schools are East Carolina, Syracuse, and North Carolina,” says 6-foot-1, 230-pound fullback and linebacker Alex King. “I’m getting attention from those three schools right now, and they’re my favorites.”

King has been busy the past year checking out a lot of schools.
“I’ve taken unofficial visits to Virginia, East Carolina, Maryland, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, and North Carolina. This summer I’ve been to the UNC one day camp, and I may go to the one day camp at East Carolina July 14th.”
Last year at Western Branch, while playing alongside Hall at linebacker, King racked up 80 tackles and picked off two passes. He’s working on improving his speed in hopes of improving on those numbers.
“I’m running my fastest right now. I’ve run the 40-yard dash in 4.7 seconds recently.”
If he can improve on those numbers, then the opportunities will be there to get some offers, with scouts monitoring his teammate all the time.
“I don’t have any offers right now, but I think I’m going to get some. My favorite right now is Syracuse. I like their whole team, the school, and I like the weather up there. East Carolina and UNC are behind them, but still in my top three.”
So when does King want to make a decision?
“I’d like to make a decision early, but the people around me want me to wait it out and take my time, so that’s what I’ll probably end up doing.”
