FB/LB Has Short List

One of the best two-way players in the northeast appears to want to stay in the region, but is still open between a number of schools.
As a junior at Rochester (N.Y.) Aquinas Institute, Calvin Hall starred on both sides of the ball, amassing impressive statistics around the board. On offense as a running back he ran for 1,300 yards and 21 touchdowns, becoming one of the most productive offensive players in the state. On defense as a linebacker he made more than 100 tackles and picked off three passes. At 6-foot-1 and 230 pounds, Hall has perfect size for a linebacker. He also runs well, going 40 yards in 4.6 seconds.

“I’m pretty much open right now between six schools. I like Syracuse, Penn State, Maryland, Boston College, Wisconsin, and Pittsburgh. I like Syracuse because their entire team seems to have one goal, and that’s to succeed together. I love the way they are so unified. Penn State is cool because their focus is on football. You have to do it in the classroom, but when you hit the field, it’s business. I like the facilities at Maryland, and Boston College seems like a great all-around school.”
Although none of these schools has offered, Hall is sure to get a lot more attention with another stellar campaign in 2002. He has taken unofficial visits to Syracuse, Penn State, and Pittsburgh, and plans to take official visits elsewhere.
“I would like to take official visits to places I won’t get a chance to take unofficial visits to. I would love to take them to places like Boston College, Wisconsin, Maryland, Michigan, and Michigan State.”
Naturally questions arise over where teams would like this versatile player to play.
“Most schools have told me I can choose where I would like to play. Syracuse has said they want me as a running back, and so does Penn State, but the others say I can play pretty much whenever I want. I’m really open, so don’t expect a decision soon.”
