Fayson excited for CaliFlorida stage

ANAHEIM, California - The Florida team arrived late to the practice field Monday afternoon for the first preparation for the seventh annual Air 7 CaliFlorida Bowl but with players like Rivals100 athlete Jarred Fayson running wild for the offense, the Sunshine State will certainly be represented well.
With Saturday's game approaching quickly, the first practice was all about installing systems for both the California and Florida teams. It was the play of the 6-foot, 184-pound four-star prospect Fayson that turned heads all day. The No. 3 rated athlete in the country says that now that his commitment is in the books for Florida, it's this game that he has been looking forward to for some time.

"Well we're running a fast-paced offense, so it takes a little bit for us to get it down," Fayson said. "It's real high tech and I think it went really well for the first practice considering what we had to learn. But, I like it a lot and how it runs."
It doesn't hurt that he'll be catching passes from his future college teammate and quarterback Tim Tebow. It all started on the plane ride to California.
"As soon as we were on board, Tim told me that there were some plays designed for me so we went over all of that," Fayson said. "We're rooming together too, so I feel like I'm a few steps ahead already of maybe some of the other receivers."
Fayson says that Tebow and him don't just talk about the CaliFlorida Bowl. Though both want to win and do their best for their home state, it's hard for either to not talk about what they want to accomplish as Gators.
"Oh man, we talk about conference championships and national championships," Fayson said. "We just want to bring back the glory days to Florida. USC has all that right now, but we want to take it back and build it back up again."
Looking back, Fayson brings up the fact that Florida was the right place for him, but not just because of football. He says that he looked at which college he would go to if athletics wasn't in the picture. The No. 9 rated player in the state just saw himself there all along.
One thing that has not escaped his attention is commitments of other top receivers like the nation's top prospect in Percy Harvin. This young man is not going to shy away from any competition.
"It doesn't bother me at all," he said about the newest commitments at his position. "You have to make the best of the competition because that's going to be anywhere you go. I just will go out and do the best like I was always going to do."
"That's what playing this game is all about – competing."
Fayson is the No. 47 overall prospect in the country.
