Favorite talks about LSU visit

Four-star Harvey (La.) West Jefferson defensive tackle Marlon Favorite was in the stands Saturday for one of the nation’s top matchups as LSU played host to Georgia.
“It was really fun,” he said. “It was my first time at a real LSU game, so I didn’t know what to expect. It was crazy. The fans were unbelievable. The student section was real rowdy. They were really hyped up for the game.

“But the biggest thing for me was when my homeboy, Skyler Green, caught the game-winning touchdown pass. That was great. All my homeboys played real well. I was happy they won.”
Favorite (6-3, 310, 4.8) is the nation’s No. 13 rated defensive tackle coming off a junior season which saw him record 100 tackles. His senior season is off to a good start with 18 tackles and five sacks in the first three games. West Jefferson is 3-0 and ranked among the top teams in Louisiana’s Class 5A.
“We’ve only given up 14 points, and that wasn’t the first defense,” he said. “Those points were on the second and third string. Our defense is really strong.”
Attention has been steady for the dominant D-Lineman. He has received calls from Miami, Tennessee, LSU, Indiana, USC, Colorado, Ole Miss, Nebraska, West Virginia, Alabama, Auburn and UCLA (among others) this month. He’s also picked up a pair of major new offers from the Hurricanes and Volunteers.
“Tennessee told me on the phone and Miami sent me an offer in the mail,” he said. “I like both of those schools.”
Just how does his list of favorites stack up?
“LSU is still up there. They’re kind of a natural because it’s close to home and I’ve been to a game. I’m familiar with their program,” he said. “After them, it’s Colorado, USC, Nebraska and Miami. That would probably be my top five. I haven’t really decided on my visits yet. I won’t do those until after my season is over.”
Academically, Favorite maintains a 3.0 GPA and will take the ACT in October.
