The football-based fallout from the sexual assault scandal currently surrounding the Baylor athletic department continued on Wednesday evening, as the father of a current Baylor signee spoke out.

Julian Urquidez, the father of Bears’ signee JP Urquidez, a four-star offensive lineman in the class of 2016, released a statement via Ywitter, claiming that his son was recruited and signed by the Bears under false pretenses.

JP Urquidez has stated that he no longer plans to enroll at Baylor, but he has already signed a binding letter of intent from which his father hopes he will be released.

The statement paints a picture of deception on the part of recently fired head coach Art Briles and his staff.

JP Urquidez was ranked as the No. 173 overall prospect in the 2016. He chose Baylor over a long list of other offers.

His release request comes on the heels of the firing of former Baylor head coach Art Briles, who lost his job amid controversy surrounding a sexual assault coverup scandal that spanned multiple Baylor sports.
