Fast-rising quarterback lands first offer

While colleges have been bombarding Dallas (Texas) Skyline with scholarship offers to its top players for the class of 2010, one of its top prospects has gone as yet unnoticed. Quarterback Javia Hall has been largely overlooked as spring practice approaches but due to an outstanding performance at the TCU Nike Camp, Hall's first offer is finally in.

While splitting time during the 2008 season, Hall had a very efficient and productive year. However, while playing at only around 165 pounds and sharing reps the past two seasons with more scramble-minded quarterbacks, Hall still had some questions to answer. When he answered many of those questions by putting in one of the top Elite 11 performances, Wyoming took notice.

"Wyoming just offered me," Hall said on Monday evening. "Today they send a packet and their whole coaching staff wrote me hand-written letters comparing me to Chase Daniel."

The flattering Chase Daniel comparison came from some veritable sources as Dave Christensen recently took over at Wyoming after being the Missouri offensive coordinator since 2001.

"That head coach was on the staff at Missouri and every coach in their note said that I reminded them of Chase Daniel," he said. "They said I'm their number one guy at quarterback and they're very surprised that they were the first to offer me."

Though, Hall has great athleticism, he is a pass-first quarterback and that is one of the qualities that appealed to the Missouri staff about him.

"Coach said he knows in his heart that I'm a throw-first quarterback with a run-second mentality," he said. "We had a good conversation."

Hall, who plans to commit before the start of his senior season, is very interested in the first offer.

"I'm very interested because they're the first one to notice my talent," he said. "I'm strongly considering them."

Though the Wyoming staff would love to be the only offer for Hall and secure its top quarterback target, it may have some competition following spring practice when more coaches are able to see Hall's development both physically and as a passer.

"I'll never forget after we lost to Stony Point in the playoffs, my offensive coordinator said hard work pas off so I've been working hard and getting better. I've spoken with some other schools and they said they're coming down this spring to see me."

Among the schools that have expressed interest in seeing Hall compete in the spring are LSU, Wisconsin and Minnesota.
