The fast rising defensive lineman has offers on the table from Arizona State, UCLA, San Diego State and UNLV.
This Saturday Pennix is scheduled on being in Tempe to take in Arizona State's junior day.
"I plan to go to Arizona State's junior day on April 4th," Pennix said. "I'm really excited about it.
"I've heard a lot of good things about Arizona State," Pennix said. "I've heard that the campus was close to town and that their facilities are good.
"Arizona State's coaching staff supports their athletes and helps them succeed," Pennix said. "Their football team plays smash mouth and that's the way I like to play the game, so that's what I like to hear."
Pennix also took an unofficial visit to UCLA earlier in the month.
"UCLA was really nice," Pennix said. "It was like a little city. Everything you need is right there. The campus was really nice."
"UCLA's head coach (Rick Neuheisel) really cares about his athletes," Pennix said. "He (Neuheisel) wants his athletes to succeed on the field and the classroom."
"The team has a bunch of good guys and have good chemistry," Pennix said. "I also like that UCLA is in the Pac 10."
"I like UCLA, but I'm keeping my options open," Pennix said. "I can see myself at UCLA though."
UCLA's cross town neighbor is also showing interest in Pennix.
"I've talked to USC a couple of times," Pennix said. "They told me they are interested in me, but they want to see more tape and build a relationship. USC is always a good school to go to."
"Oregon is also talking to me and want me to go to their camp."
Besides Oregon, Pennix is planning on going to UCLA's and ASU's team camps in June. Later this month you will be able to catch Pennix working on improving his game at the NIKE Camp held in Los Angeles.
What is Pennix looking for in a college?
"I kind of want to play in the Pac 10, but if there is another school that I feel is a much better fit for me then I'll go to that school," Pennix said. "The campus lifestyle is going to be important and good academics because it I get hurt I want something solid to fall back on."
"A good football program where the coaches care and help their players out," Pennix said. "I also want to play on a winning team. Those are the things that I care about."
Pennix has been working very hard this offseason in the weight room. Is current bench is 330, squat 450 and his power clean 285.
