Farrell is closing in on a decision

Since taking an official last month to Penn State, nobody has heard from 6-foot-5, 285-pound offensive tackle Mike Farrell. The Pittsburgh (Pa.) Shady Side Academy lineman sat down with Rivals to discuss the latest in his recruitment.
"I'm planning to take my visit to Miami (Ohio) on January 18th," he said. "I think I'm going to make my decision shortly after that.

"I would like to go see how the kids are on the team. I've gotten to know the coaches a bit and I want to know what kind of guys I'll be around."
Despite the offer from the Nittany Lions, the two-star prospect claims interest hasn't picked up significantly.
It appears Farrell is down to Penn State and Miami (Ohio). What does he like about both schools?
"I have to decide what situation I want to put myself into. I've got to find out what is best for me, playing in the MAC or the Big Ten. I like both schools," he said. "I like the success Miami (Ohio) has had in their league and I like the campus.
"Being from Pennsylvania, I've grown up watching Penn State. I've had a lot of family that has gone there and I've been in contact with the coaches for awhile. I got a good feeling from my visit."
