Farrell Freshman Fifteen:
Nos. 13-15

The skinny: No. 54 overall, the No. 7 defensive tackle and the No. 6 recruit from Texas in 2015, Mack originally committed to Texas A&M in late October of his junior season before deciding to open his process back up. He took official visits to College Station, TCU and Texas before realizing his original decision was the best one for him and re-committed to the Aggies. Most true freshmen don't make a positive impression on the defensive line in the SEC, but Mack already has 19 tackles and six tackles for a loss for the Aggies.
Farrell's take: Mack was highly regarded, but was ranked higher elsewhere as we had concerns about his lack of size and length despite his impressive power. So far he's been very disruptive and even quicker off the snap than we expected. A five-star is a guy we see as a dominant college player who moves on to be a potential first-rounder in the NFL and Mack is on his way if NFL scouts overlook his height.

Mitch Hyatt, Clemson
Suwanee (Ga.) North Gwinnett | Four-star
The skinny: No. 45 overall, the No. 3 offensive tackle and the No. 5 recruit from Georgia in 2015, Hyatt had little drama during his recruiting process. After taking a return visit to Clemson in late March, Hyatt committed to the Tigers over Ohio State, Georgia and a host of other schools. At Clemson, not only has Hyatt started at tackle for the Tigers as a true freshman, he is also in charge of protecting Deshaun Watson's blind side, which makes his play this season even more impressive.
Farrell's take: Hyatt was a long-time five-star, losing that coveted fifth star at the end of the process because of concerns regarding his ability to fill out his frame and strength in his lower body. As a true freshman starter at left tackle on an undefeated national title contender, he's making that decision look bad and his technique and footwork help him overcome a frame that is still filling out. He seems to get stronger by the game.
