Farrell Freshman 15: Nos. 10-12

Farrell Freshman Fifteen:
Nos. 13-15

The skinny: No. 20 overall, the No. 2 strongside defensive end and the No. 8 recruit from Florida in 2015, Jefferson's recruiting process was a hectic one that saw Florida Gator fans desperately waiting for a signed fax to come in. Finally, amidst plenty of drama, Jefferson did fax in his National Letter of Intent and officially became a Gator. The stress from National Signing Day seems to have been worth it for the Gators, as Jefferson has shown all of the potential that made him a five-star. Already with 16 tackles, two tackles for a
loss, 1.5 sacks and a fumble recovery, the future is extremely bright for Jefferson.
Farrell's take: Jefferson was an inside guy projected to play outside and his lack of height was overcome by his long arms, his impressive use of those arms and hands and his ability to shake off blocks in traffic to make plays. Jefferson played with natural leverage and he picked up outside pass rush very well, especially with his shoulder dip. His versatility has paid off well as he is effective against the run and can get after the passer.

Josh Sweat, Florida State
Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith | Five-star
The skinny: No. 34 overall, the No. 2 weakside defensive end and the No. 1 recruit from Virginia in 2015, Sweat would have actually been ranked higher had it not been for a knee injury that occurred early during his senior season. Sweat took official visits to Florida State, Georgia, Ohio State and Virginia Tech, and surprised many by deciding to leave Virginia and commit to the Seminoles. Sweat has made an immediate impact in Tallahassee, totaling 21 tackles, one sack, two tackles for a loss, two fumble recoveries and an interception, while showing great potential.
Farrell's take: Sweat's recovery from what some saw as a career-threating injury last year is nothing short of astonishing. At the very least, I figured it would hamper the start of his career, but it simply hasn't. He's an athletic freak, super long and very explosive and all of that has returned to form after hard
work in rehabbing his knee. He's just starting to scratch the surface of his potential and seems to get better each game, so it's scary to think how he'll be next year and the year after if he stays healthy.
