Farrell Freshman Fifteen:
Nos. 4-6

The skinny: No. 2 overall, the No. 1 pro-style quarterback and the No. 1 recruit
from California in 2015, Rosen took several visits, including one to Michigan
only a few days before his announcement. However, Rosen decided to stay closer
to home, and with Stanford never offering, he committed to UCLA in March. Rosen,
who has led the Bruins offense since day one, has thrown for 1,968 yards and 15
touchdowns.
Farrell's take: In all my years of scouting, I've said it before and I'll say it
again -- Rosen was the best quarterback I've seen on film or in person at the
high school level. There's something about his attitude and cockiness that leads
you to believe the game will never be too big for him and he will excel
regardless of the circumstances. Yes, there have been some bumps along the way,
but he's shown all the skills we saw in high school and is cool as can be as if
he's been in college for years.

Minkah Fitzpatrick, Alabama
Jersey City (Ala.) St. Peter's Prep | Five-star
The skinny: No. 24 overall, the No. 2 safety and the No. 1 recruit from New
Jersey in 2015, Fitzpatrick committed to Alabama after trimming his list down to
the Crimson Tide and Florida State. He remained firm with word throughout, even
though an official visit to Tallahassee was taken during the fall, and signed
with the Crimson Tide on National Signing Day. Fitzpatrick has already proven
himself as an elite playmaker for the Crimson Tide, with 31 tackles, three
tackles for a loss, two sacks, two interceptions, both of which he returned for
a touchdown, a blocked punt, which was recovered for a touchdown and a team
leading nine passes defended.
Farrell's take: I've seen Fitzpatrick since he was a freshman in high school and
he was always a five-star talent, but scouting him so much might have led to
expectations that were too high. It's why we moved him from cornerback to safety
in the end because he just seemed to struggle with elite wide receivers in solo
coverage down the stretch of his high school career. So much for that, huh? His
instant impact on the defense has been amazing, especially for a program like
Alabama that is loaded with defensive talent. He's living up to that five-star
status but also sticking it in our face a bit about that move to safety, and I'm
excited to see it.
