Fanua is one of the hottest LB recruits in the West

One player not getting a ton of recruiting buzz right now is Milpitas (Calif.) linebacker Steven Fanua. Colleges however are well aware of the talented athlete and offers have been poring in all Spring.
Fanua, 6-1, 205 pounds has been one of the state's top 'backers since his sophomore season. He earned all-state underclass honors two years ago after racking up an incredible 227 tackles. As a junior, he totaled 173 tackles and six sacks to earn League Def. Player of the Year and 1st team all-state underclass once again.

On the recruiting front, Fanua is hearing from a host of schools from all over the region and beyond.
"Right now, I have offers from BYU, UNLV, Cal, Arizona, Arizona State, Fresno State and Boise State," Fanua said. "I'm also hearing a lot from UCLA and Oregon. They came by the school and said they loved my film and just want to see a little more of me before offering.
"I plan to take some unofficial visits this summer and I also want to take all my official visits before I commit anywhere. I'm going to check out BYU, UNLV and then see both Arizona schools.
"As for official visits, I want to see Cal, BYU and ASU. Those schools are showing me a lot of love right now and that's important to me, I want to go where I know I'm wanted. My relationship with my position coach and head coach will play a huge role as well.
"Location won't matter, I don't mind leaving home if it's the best option for me. I also don't care about depth charts. I plan on working hard no matter where I go and earning a spot no matter how many linebackers a school has."
Fanua is LDS and said as of right now, he's not planning to go on a mission until after college.
