Falcon to meet with Harbaugh

After suffering his third ACL injury prior to the start of his senior season, Southfield, Mich., running back Matt Falcon learned that his scholarship offer from Michigan would not involve football. A four-star prospect ranked as the No. 12 running back in the 2016 class, Falcon had received more than 20 offers before announcing his commitment to the Wolverines last spring, and he continues to receive interest from schools wanting to put him on an athletic scholarship. While he waits to see where things go with Michigan, Falcon is starting to consider alternatives and took a game visit to Toledo on Tuesday.

WHAT'S NEXT?: Falcon has a meeting planned with Michigan for next Monday, that will, at minimum, involve Falcon, his parents and head coach Jim Harbaugh, to his understanding. This meeting was supposed to take place last week, but schedules could not be worked out. Since news came out that Michigan would not bring him in to play football, Falcon has heard from the likes of Indiana, Miami-Ohio, Purdue and Wisconsin. Toledo also told him they would still love to have him as part of their 2016 class when they he visited Tuesday.
IN HIS WORDS: "It still hurts, but at the end of the day I have to move on, rehab and get stronger so I can get back on the field and do what I was born to do."
RIVALS' REACTION: Although he has not made a final decision on whether or not to take Michigan's offer to just attend school and not play football, Falcon's goal continues to be playing in college next year. Next week's meeting with Michigan likely, then, will be to see if there is any chance of that happening at Michigan. Barring an unexpected change of course from the Wolverines, though, I expect Falcon to move forward and find a school where he can do that. He said most of the schools that originally offered him are still interested in bringing him in with their 2016 class.
