Falcon goes with Western Michigan

A seven-month commitment to Michigan came to an end Sunday for Southfield, Mich., running back Matt Falcon and the four-star running back has decided to pledge his services to the Western Michigan Broncos. Michigan notified Falcon earlier this fall that his scholarship to attend school would be honored, but he would not be able to play football for the University. After deliberating on his options for a couple weeks, Falcon has decided to take his talents across state.

WHAT'S NEXT? Falcon suffered his third ACL injury prior to the start of his senior season. The 6-foot-1, 210-pounder is ranked as the No. 12 running back prospect in the 2016 class, but has been unable to play a full season in any of the past three years. He will have surgery on the knee this winter and start rehabilitation so he can be ready when camp starts at Western Michigan next summer.
IN HIS WORDS: "This was a very tough decision, and I'm very thankful for all the schools that still stuck with me, and gave me opportunities." - Falcon via Twitter.
RIVALS' REACTION: Falcon presents a big risk, but also a potentially big reward for Western Michigan. When he was healthy, he really had it all - size, explosiveness, agility, power. He was the big back with plenty of shake in the open field, and he also could catch the football. But, three ACL injuries in as many years… we do not often hear of people coming back from that. In the near term, Western Michigan has plenty of depth at running back so they are as well-positioned as maybe any team out there to take that risk.
