Ezeff talks about visit to Cal

Santa Rosa (Calif.) Montgomery athlete Marcus Ezeff took his first official visit of the year to Cal this past weekend. Although the Bears are his current leader, Ezeff said he’s not close to making a decision.
“I got to Cal about 9:00,” Ezeff said. “We checked in at the hotel and then headed over to the stadium. I was in the coaches office before the game, just talking with the coaches and then watched the players go through ‘March to Victory,’ where they walk through the crowd on their way in to the stadium.

“I watched the first half of the game in the stands but I went down to the coaches office and watched the second half there. For some reason, they put me and Kevin Thomas in the student section and you just couldn’t really enjoy the game from there, it was just way too crazy of an environment.
“After the game, I met up with my host, Justin Forsett who was one of the coolest guys I’ve met. The high point of the trip was probably just hanging out with him and he showed me around and talked to me a lot about the school. I learned a lot from him and had a real good time.
“Sunday, I met with the coaches and talked a lot with Coach Tedford. Before I could even bring up the rumors about him leaving, he brought it up and told me not to listen to any of it. He said it was basically just the media looking for a story and there was no reason for him to leave.
“He said he and his staff have worked way too hard to leave now. He said they just took the program from nowhere to a top five program and he couldn’t leave it because they’re not done yet with where they want the program to be. He just kept telling me how much he loves it at Cal and that was good enough for me.
“Right now, I’m just going to focus on our season and winning a section championship. We’re 11-0 right now and have a great chance to win it all so I’m not going to take any more visits until after our season. I’m setting a visit with Oregon and have a date set with Utah for (Jan. 14). When I’m done with all my trips, I’ll make my decision but I’m not close to doing it right now.”
