Exum impressed with Penn State

Three-star athlete Antone Exum was one of at least a half dozen recruits who took unofficial visits to Penn State over the weekend. The Glen Allen (Va.) Deep Run prospect had a good time in State College.
"It was a good visit," he said. "I really did like it a lot.

"They really impressed me with the atmosphere and game environment. It was an all-around good visit."
Exum obviously went up for the game against Illinois. What was his take?
"The atmosphere was amazing, it was a night game and white out was going on," he said. "The fans were incredible. I really did like the atmosphere.
"As for the game, that's a bit more difficult since I'm not sure on my position.
"They were originally recruiting me as a quarterback. I think they still are, but they told me their primary needs are wide receiver and cornerback. If I'm not a quarterback I can step in immediately at one of those positions."
What does Exum think about that?
"It's good, but I need more detailed specifics from the coaches on my position. I want to know more about how they want to use me. I do know they can on special teams, punts and kick returns."
Before heading out, the No. 14 prospect in Virginia met with the coaches.
"I had a meeting on Sunday morning with Joe Paterno," he said. "he told me how they have to get a couple guys who can step in right away and contribute next year. He thinks I'm one of those guys."
The unofficial wasn't the first for Exum in recent weeks.
"I took an unofficial to Tennessee a week ago," he said. "That was good. My parents had never seen that before. It was good for them to look at it and get a feel for the atmosphere. They took a tough pounding from Florida."
Exum appears to be done with unofficial visits now.
"I'm now going to get my list together of official visits to see what schools I should take trips to."
