Evans looking to go national

One of the state's best athletes is Union City (Calif.) James Logan two way standout Rashad Evans. Evans has a handful of west coast offers but is looking to leave the area and is starting to hear from some of the nation's heavyweight programs.
Evans, 5-9, 160 pounds not only excels on both sides of the ball but in two sports. He's getting looks at both receiver and corner back and could double sport in college as he's one of the state's top jumpers in track.

Evans had a great performance at the NIKE Combine in Oakland where he clocked a 4.54-40, 4.28 shuttle and jumped 37 inches in the vertical. He looked very good at the SoCal NIKE Camp as well and was rated among the top defensive backs in the camp.
On the recruiting front, Evans has offers from Oregon, Fresno State, BYU, UNLV, Utah, San Jose State and Nevada and is starting to hear from schools all over the country.
"I'm just now starting to hear from schools like Florida, Florida State, Michigan and LSU," Evans said. "I really like those programs a lot and I'm hoping to set up my official visits to the schools outside of the region.
"I haven't set up any trip dates yet, but my five right now would be Florida, Florida State, Oregon, LSU and Michigan. Oregon is the only one who has offered in that group but the others just started texting me and have asked me to call them and things like that.
"Right now, I'm looking for a school with a strong Business program and a school with a good football program. I'm not worried about early playing time or depth chart, I'm ready to go in and compete with anyone wherever I go.
"My plan is to take all five of my trips. I would like to take a couple during the season and then the rest after the season is over. I'm being recruited as a receiver and corner and really don't have a preference between the two. I just want to play whatever gets me on the field the fastest."
