Evans could be top WR in the West

One of the top receivers in the class of 2009, not just locally but nationally as well, is Inglewood (Calif.) standout Shaquelle Evans. We had a chance to see Evans up close and personal this past weekend and there is definitely a lot to be impressed by.
Evans is one of those players who impresses you the minute you see him walk on to the field. He measured in at a solid 6-0.5, 203 pounds and has the kind of frame you look for in a future elite college receiver. Evans is strong, runs like a deer and is fearless going over the middle.

He shows up very well on film and has the tools to play early in college. He's an athletic kid with good leaping ability and runs well after the catch. At the NIKE Camp at USC this past weekend, he didn't catch the ball as well as we've seen in the past but that's nitpicking as Evans has very strong hands and catching the ball down the field or in traffic is one of his strengths.
On the recruiting front, Evans has offers from schools all over the country including UCLA, USC, Cal, LSU, Ohio State, Oregon, Colorado and Oklahoma.
"Right now, my top five would be UCLA, USC, Cal, LSU and Ohio State," Evans said after the NIKE Camp. I visited UCLA for Junior Day and had a really good time. I've also been to USC several times and I like both local schools a lot. Right now, I'm just going through the process and don't plan to commit anywhere too soon. I want to take some trips and when the time is right, that's when I'll go ahead and make my decision."
