The highest-ranked uncommitted prospect in the state of Oklahoma, Midwest City safety Evan Fields, has accumulated close to 20 scholarship offers and is on the radar of several more schools. On Tuesday the three-star announced four schools, among those that have offered, which stand out.
THE LATEST
The top four from Fields consists of Arizona State, Houston, Kansas State and Memphis. He already has an official visits scheduled to Kansas State for the weekend of Nov. 4. Arizona State will for sure receive an official visit, and per his conversation with assistant coach Keith Patterson on Tuesday night, it appears that official visit is likely to take place in December. Fields attended Houston’s season-opener as an unofficial visitor and he has also visited Memphis unofficially on two occasions.
IN HIS WORDS
“My recruitment is still open because there are a bunch of schools still contacting me. And, not just saying ‘what’s up,’ but talking to me every day. But, I had all those offers and I didn’t want to lead anybody on."
RIVALS’ REACTION
Although this is a top four, it is not a final four for Fields. Mississippi State has told him they will be at one of his games later this fall, and Clemson has been in frequent contact as well. The issues this season, though, is that Fields is still nursing an arm injury and teams that have been waiting on senior film have yet to see him play. Whatever way this works out, a decision is not expected in the near future. He grew up a fan of Arizona State and that certainly plays a role here, but Kansas State, Houston and Memphis have also done outstanding jobs of recruiting Fields thus far.
