Euless Trinity loaded in 2007

Coming off of a 5A championship, Euless (Texas) Trinity coach Steve Lineweaver has the talent in the class of 2007 to do big things once again. Both offense and defense should be heavily loaded with special players.
Offensively, Lineweaver will return one of the Metroplex's top offensive lineman in Manaaki Vaitai. At 6-foot-4, 295 pounds and growing, Lineweaver says that Vaitai is a special young man and his first offer will most likely be joined by many more.

"I think he will be a guard, but with his coordination, strength, and everything I wouldn't rule out a shotgun snap center or even a smaller tackle," Lineweaver said about Vaitai. "He got his first offer from Houston and he's getting a ton of mail. Vanderbilt, TCU, and Baylor are just the most recent that I can remember."
Lineweaver also added that this is the first year Vaitai has played offense. He was moved over from the defensive tackle position based upon need.
"We needed to increase his effectiveness throughout the year, but he did it all for us," Lineweaver said. "He plays hurt, even through an ankle sprain all the way through the playoffs. He's going to have that work ethic that colleges are looking for. He's a top-notch character kid and already a full-qualifier."
Vaitai had planned a trip to the TCU junior day but his coach says he wasn't sure if he made that trip. There are other junior days and camps that he will attend which have not been scheduled yet.
Tight end/fullback prospect Jordan Scoggins still holds one offer from Houston with Vaitai, but big schools are knocking on the door.
"Miami and LSU have come on real strong for Jordan," Lineweaver said. "Texas hasn't sent a ton of stuff, but Miami and LSU really stuck out. Our district will be glad when he graduates, I can say that."
One of the things that colleges like about Scoggins is not only his ability to make plays with the ball, but lay a devastating block.
"He's getting close to 6-foot-3 and 260 pounds and still runs a 4.9-second forty-yard dash," Lineweaver said about Scoggins. "He's got soft hands, but he's a really good edge blocker."
A big sleeper that people need to watch out for will be outside linebacker Youri Yenga who Lineweaver says will really shine this fall.
"We just think he's a really good player," Lineweaver said about his linebacker. "He's a 4.7 or 4.6-second speed linebacker type. He's a real good technician and really good on the pass rush. The biggest thing is that he has good closing speed in getting to the ball and good tackling skills.
All of these guys have a chance to be very special."
Four prospects signed major Division I scholarships from the class of 2006 with two as well in 2004.
