Esperanza kicker getting notice

Getting a scholarship for your placekicking skills is very hard indeed. Many times schools would rather offer kickers preferred walk-on status and have them earn their scholarship. Place-kicker is the only position that is subject to this kind of treatment.
One wonders why a position that is so important to a team’s success is so under recruited. There is one kicker in Southern California who looks like he will have an excellent chance for earning a scholie and that is Brandon Weiner (6-3, 170, 4.6) from Anaheim (Calif.) Esperanza.

So far Weiner has hit on all three of his field goal attempts from 43, 42 and 40 yards. He is deadly accurate kicking PAT’s hitting on 30-31. As a kick-off specialist, Brandon has placed kick-offs into or out of the end zone 35 of his last 43 attempts. The past off-season Brandon has worked very hard on increasing hang-time and distance. This year, he has incorporated into his routine a pull-through approach that allows him to generate greater leg speed and lift when kicking off.
Weiner is also an outstanding athlete who plays wide receiver and has caught 17 passes with four receiving touchdowns. Maybe the most telling tale is Weiner averages more yards per catch than any other receiver in talent heavy Orange County.
Esperanza plays against the top competition that you can play in Southern California. Los Al, Mater Dei, Long Beach Poly are just a few of the name schools that Esperanza could play against.
Weiner also is a standout soccer player and plays club soccer on the highest level there is, the Olympic Development training team. He is also an outstanding volleyball player on the high school level
A hard worker, Weiner regularly attends private lessons to improve on his kicking game. He works with former Stanford kicker Paul Stonehouse who with his brother former USC punter John Stonehouse runs the prestigious Kicking Game school. He also works out with Chris Sailer kicking and will attend Sailer’s kicking combine in January at UNLV.
Weiner is currently hearing from Washington State, Nebraska, Oregon, Cal, Portland State, Colorado, Colorado State, Fresno State. Ball State, Nevada, Oregon State, UNLV, Georgetown, Brown, Penn, and Wyoming.
