Ese Dubre is a Stanford Cardinal

THE SITUATION: Ese Dubre has been counting down the days. The talented linebacker at Powder Springs (Ga.) McEachern was offered by Stanford August 16 and he knew quickly that it was a school high on his list. It is a process to get into Stanford, and once all the i's were dotted and t's were crossed, the commitment was made public. He had offers from Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisville and other programs, but once Stanford offered, it moved to the top, and although it was an easy decision for him.

IN HIS OWN WORDS: "Once I got that call I was ecstatic, and I probably knew since August I was going to Stanford," said Dubre.

"It definitely wasn’t an easy choice at all, especially since I barely got to go see any campuses, however I felt like Stanford was the right choice for me being a great academic school and football program.

"I believe the main reason everyone chooses Stanford is for the academics, but for me, it was to experience a whole different setting. I like challenging myself and putting myself outside my comfort zone.

"Stanford can really help me. I feel like that is what Stanford specializes in. On the field, it’s all about brotherhood and becoming a better man, but even off the field you learn about so much more. You meet new friends who aren’t football players and establish new connections."

RIVALS REACTION: Dubre has not been talked about as much as he should be. He is a talented linebacker with instincts and he plays very physical. He is a leader on the field, he is a strong tackler and he is plays hard. He also wrestles, and he is has that toughness, grit and determination you look when evaluating players you feel will excel on the next level. At a linebacker, he is best in the box against the run and rushing the passer. Him being accepted into Stanford speaks for itself. He is a high academic young man who works hard on and off the field. This is a great pick-up for the Cardinal.
