Erick Lobos Pulls the Trigger

Washington picked up a commitment from one of the West region's top defensive tackles in Erick Lobos, 6-3, 285 pounds from Los Angeles (Calif.) Venice. Lobos told us just Sunday he wanted to wait and take a few more of his trips before making his decision but decided he didn't want to waste anyone's time.
"Yeah, I knew Washington was the place for me when I visited there a few weeks ago," Lobos said. "I was going to trip to Utah and Arizona but I knew where I wanted to go and just decided I wanted to get it over with. I got that special feeling on my visit to Washington and knew it was the place for me.

"Washington has everything I'm looking for in a school. I like all the coaches and players and the depth chart is favorable for me. I think I can play early there and I've been working out like crazy and doing a lot of running to make sure I'm in the best possible shape when I arrive on campus. I'm so excited right now, I was hyped up after I called the coaches last night to tell them about my decision. I think I talked to just about the whole staff, it was cool."
Lobos was recently named 1st team All-City and is one of the best defensive tackles in the West. He has great quickness off the ball, uses his hands well and is a high motor player who brings it on every down. He committed to the Huskies over offers from Washington State, Utah, Arizona and San Diego State.
