Ellis returns from Blacksburg

Hampton (Va.) Bethel defensive end Chris Ellis was one of the few players in Blacksburg, Va. this weekend not on an official visit to see Virginia Tech host Virginia.
"There were a lot of kids on official visits, but I was just a visitor," said the 6-foot-5, 230-pound defensive end. "But they treated me really well. I spent a lot of time with coach (Frank) Beamer and coach (Bud) Foster and talked about how I fit in their offense."

So did the Hokies win over Virginia put Tech back in the lead?
"No, I'm staying neutral," he laughed. "Virginia killed Maryland last week and now Tech beats Virginia. It's too much week-to-week to change back and forth. I liked it at Tech and I'm going back in a couple weeks as well for my official visit."
Ellis takes an official visit to Virginia Tech on Dec. 13 and then heads to Maryland (Jan. 10), Virginia (Jan. 17) and Tennessee (Jan. 24). He's also open to a trip to NC State if they offer him one.
"They haven't called," he said. "They stopped by my school, but they haven't called about a visit."
The Hokies would love to get the talented rush end on their committed list sooner than later.
"They said if I committed, they thought the other top guys in the state would as well," he said. "But I want to take all my visits first and then make a smart decision."
