Elder hoping to hit the road

College Park (Ga.) Banneker defensive back Chaz Elder would like to do a little research next week while on Spring Break. If all goes as planned, he hopes to visit as many as three schools.
"I'll probably know by this weekend where I'm going," Elder said.

His itinerary could include stops at Clemson, Georgia and Vanderbilt.
"I think I'm definitely going to Clemson," Elder said.
To date, Elder has offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, Illinois, Louisville, Mississippi and Vanderbilt. He said he has no favorites at the moment, and is not yet prepared to start trimming his list of possible schools.
"I like [the recruiting process] right now," Elder said. "I like the attention. I'm glad colleges are looking at me."
Thus far, Elder has taken visits to Clemson, Florida State and Georgia. According to the 6-foot-2, 180-pounder, no visit stood out because he thoroughly enjoyed each one.
In high school, Elder plays safety. Depending upon which school he lands at, he could be either a safety or cornerback (Clemson, for example, likes him at corner while Georgia projects him at safety).
"I think I'm a better safety, but I just like to play cornerback," Elder said. "At safety, I can come down and make the tackles. But at corner I can come up to the line, get in a receiver's face a little bit. I like that."
Elder said he has no position preference for college.
