Ekwerekwu shooting up charts

Arlington, Texas, wide receiver/defensive back Brad Ekwerekwu is one of the fastest rising players in the state of Texas. He has seven offers so far and is gaining steam very fast in the recruiting world. The list of offers is made up of many big time schools that are drooling at the pure athletic ability that he possesses.
Missouri, Kansas State, Colorado, Colorado State, Iowa, Purdue and SMU are the current schools that have offered, but the list is likely to change quite often because of his ability. Ekwerekwu lists his favorites as all of the schools that have offered.
“Those are my top seven,” Ekwerekwu said. “I’m pretty open, but I’m only thinking about schools that have offered because they’re obviously the most interested.”
Ekwerekwu has not set up any official visits yet, but he plans on doing so very soon. He will not take any of the visits until after the Colts’ season.
While the official visits will have to wait, he is hoping to make an unofficial visit to the big game in Dallas this weekend between top five teams Texas and Oklahoma.
“Oklahoma has been showing more interest and I’m supposed to hear from Coach (Brent) Venables tomorrow,” Ekwerekwu said. “He’s trying to get me some tickets to the game. I really hope that I get them, it’s going to be a great game.”
Oklahoma is picking up the pace on the recruitment of the star athlete as is Texas but the opportunity to be a Longhorn isn’t something that Ekwerekwu is very interested in.
“I’m not looking at Texas,” Ekwerekwu said. “They’re pretty well set with receivers.”
Ekwerekwu has been playing wide receiver for the most part, but he said that he has been playing defensive back on a situational basis. He said that he has around 200 yards and two touchdowns so far this season and that most of his catches have been for first downs.
Ekwerekwu is listed as a three-star recruit by Rivals100.com and the 57th best safety in the country.
