Eight offers for 2014 RB

Havelock, N.C. running back Derrell Scott is one of the top Class of 2014 prospects in the Southeast. The 5-foot-11, 180-pounder claims eight offers, along with interest with some of the top programs in the country.
"I haven't really been on any visits at all and I haven't set any up,"

he said. "I am going to try to visit some schools for games this fall.
The thing that messed me up this summer was that I had no ride."
When he does manage to set up some rides, he discussed where he would like to go.
"I'm not exactly sure where I want to visit yet," he said. "I want to go to some schools in Florida, definitely a trip to Ohio State. I want to go to Alabama and Oregon too."
Scott is starting to hear from many of those programs including Oregon, Alabama, Texas, Texas A&M and others.
"They are all saying they are looking out for me and I guess they are interested," said Scott.
Currently, he holds offers from Duke, North Carolina, NC State, Ohio State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia Tech and East Carolina.
So with this many early options, is anyone standing out?
"I like Oregon, Texas and Alabama, but I want to give everybody a fair chance. I'm going to keep my options open," he said. "The thing about those schools is that I like how they are always on TV. They compete for national championships and are always in the mix every year. A good percent of those teams send players to the NFL too. I like the big schools."
Practice kicks off today for Scott and Havelock and he is focusing much of his attention on the upcoming year.
"I've been working out and my thoughts are on getting my team back to the state championship," he stated. "I'm not worried about my stats. I just want to do whatever the team wants me to do and try to get them to a state championship. My personal goal though is to do better than last year, just be all-around better and improve my numbers."
