Eight is enough for Xavier Carter

It’s not so much a matter of who offers as when for one of the Sunshine State’s elite players.
Palm Bay (Fla.) wide receiver Xavier Carter is sporting scholarship offers from all of the schools on his early list and is beginning the difficult process of narrowing down his choices.

“It’s been a crazy month,” Carter said. “I’ve heard from everybody… for real. I don’t think there’s a school that I haven’t talked to. It’s hard to get things sorted out when you’re getting all this attention. I like so many of these schools, so it’s kind of confusing.”
Carter (6-3, 190, 4.35) says he’s taking a long look at the following schools: UCLA, Florida, South Carolina, LSU, Tennessee, Texas, Oklahoma and Miami.
“Right now, I don’t really have anyone ahead of the other ones,” he said. “I want to make some visits, check things out for myself. I’m looking for the best combination of the football and track programs, and a place with real good academics. But track will be just as important as football.”
Carter plans to camp at UCLA, Florida and “maybe Oklahoma” this summer. He’ll also attend the Bishop-Dullaghan Camp with his Palm Bay teammates. It’ll be a busy summer as he’ll try to balance those football camps with at least two major track and field events. One of the nation’s top sprinters, he’ll participate in the adidas outdoor championships in South Carolina and the Junior Olympic qualifying meet in California.
As a junior, Carter caught 28 passes for 757 yards (27 ypc) and nine touchdowns.
