Eberle gets first offer

Alec Eberle knew his first offer would come soon. With all the attention the offensive lineman from Mechanicsville (Va.) Atlee was getting, an offer was bound to come sometime soon.
"This is awesome," said the 6-foot-4, 270-pound Eberle. "It's really a dream come true. The past few years all I wanted was to play college football so it feels great. All the extra time working out, training and all the film study has really paid off.

"I've built a relationship with my recruiter over the past year and I was hoping the offer from Maryland would come sooner but I ran into him at a banquet a few days ago," he said. "He talked to my coach and my coach told me to call him. So I called him and we talked about school and about my film and she gave me the offer then on the phone.
"It's a really good opportunity for me to play for a great school," Eberle said. "They're also going to the Big Ten and I like that also."
This first offer will surely attract more schools.
"I know Virginia Tech is looking at me," he said. "So is Penn State, N.C. State, East Carolina, Wake Forest and James Madison."
Eberle already has a few visits planned.
"Before I got the Maryland offer, I set up a visit to Maryland on February 16 and recently visited ECU," said Eberle. "I also want to go to Virginia Tech in April and Penn State sometime this off-season."
Eberle has a good idea of which school will offer next.
"I think Virginia Tech will be the next school to offer me because they've been recruiting me for really long time," he said. "They might want to now because Maryland has offered."
Eberle can play all of the positions on the offensive line.
