Eastern Star looking West

One of the nation’s hottest high school programs is Baltimore (Md.) Gilman. Gilman high has been busy being giant killers. Gilman high has already knocked off Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha and ended their 22 game winning streak. Gilman followed up that effort by defeating Ijamsville (Md.) Urbana who was on a 50 game winning streak before they played Gilman.
Rivals100 already profiled one prospect from Gilman high school who is one of the reasons that Gilman is now 5-0 and climbing the charts. Four star defensive end prospect Victor Abiamiri (6-5, 245, 4.5) is the player that Rivals100 West profiled before. Just a reminder Abiamiri, has close to 30 offers from some of the nation’s most prestigious programs.

Gilman high school has another player who is getting massive attention from schools from coast-to-coast.
This player’s name is Ambrose Wooden (6-1, 185, 4.4). This talented performer was selected all-state, all-county. all-city and all-metro as a junior.
Wooden is being recruited as an athlete as he plays both free safety and quarterback. This stellar athlete also lines up at wide receiver and sometimes cornerback.
Wooden is one of the main reasons that Gilman is off to a 5-0 start and beating the best ranked teams in Maryland. His stats would be even better except for the fact that Wooden gets pulled by halftime due to blowouts.
Wooden is very open regarding school choice but eight teams seem to have the inside edge. They are UCLA, USC, Stanford, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, Penn State, Maryland and Tennessee. All but Tennessee have offered but the word is the Vols have a pending offer for the talented athlete from Gilman.
“I have become good friends with the Notre Dame coaches,” Wooden said. I also like (UCLA DB coach) (R. Todd) Littlejohn. Coach Littlejohn is a down to earth guy.”
What does the talented Mr. Wooden want in a school?
“I want to play for a coaching staff that cares about their players and a good community,” Wooden said. “I also want to play for a place that’s not just football, but is also academically inclined.”
Wooden has one visit committed to the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame on December 6th. He will possibly visit UCLA with his teammate Victor Abiamiri on January 17th. Stanford could be another possible visit.
Other schools that Wooden is interested in are USC, Penn State, Virginia Tech and Maryland.
Wooden and his Gilman teammates are currently rated number one in the State of Maryland and 20th in the nation.
