East Texas WR working on offers

East Texas is always one of the most loaded areas for high school football talent in the nation, and one of the region's top programs is Lufkin.
The Panthers have plenty of talent that college coaches love and one player to keep your eye on during his senior season is receiver James Davis.

The 6-foot-2, 188-pound two-star prospect doesn't have any offers at this point, but plenty of schools have been staying in contact with him.
"Tulsa told me they're close to offering," Davis, who played some at quarterback as a junior because of an injury to a teammate, said. "I'd be excited to get an offer from them. I'm also still getting a lot of mail from Oklahoma State, Houston, Texas A&M, Colorado and Iowa State."
Davis said he thinks he'll have plenty of coaches after him after he has a strong senior season.
"I want to have a big year," he said. "I think I can have about 1,000 yards receiving and 20 touchdowns."
Davis gets a chance to show the coaches what he can do in the first game of the season against East Texas rival Longview. He said coaches will see an improved version of him when he gets out there.
"I run better routes now," he said. "I worked really hard on that this summer. We're getting there as a team. Practices are going really good, and we're going to be ready for that first game."
