MIAMI -- Johnquai Lewis has offers. What he also has is time. A class-of-2020 wide receiver, Lewis is not in any hurry to make a snap decision. Instead, his approach is measured. He’ll let other schools get involved down the road and review his options as they expand.

For now, Lewis isn’t naming a favorite. But he doesn’t mind speaking about the school with which he’s most comfortable.

“Syracuse is kind of standing out,” Lewis said. “That was my first offer and they show the most love. They come at me hard and I like the receivers. I like what they do.

Then, there’s Miami. Lewis doesn’t have an offer from the Hurricanes at this time, but the young prospect is hoping to see that change down the road. He’ll have to change it gradually, though, as his first chance at earning such an opportunity was spoiled by illness.

“I want to get Miami for sure for a visit this year,” Lewis said. “I was supposed to go to the UM camp, but I got sick that day so I didn’t get to go.”

Joining Miami on the list of offers Lewis hopes to welcome down the road is Oregon. And while former USF coach Willie Taggart is now calling the shots in Eugene, that’s not the reason Lewis is eyeing the Ducks.

Instead, it seems, this is a matter of fit.

“I want Oregon because they run that fast-paced offense there,” Lewis said. “That’s what we run [at my high school].”

The 6-foot Lewis attends Hialeah (Fla.) Champagnat Catholic High School, which played for a state title a year ago and is one of the favorites to do so again in 2017.

RIVALS REACTION: Lewis seems to be extremely interested in an offer from Miami, so expect UM to be a player should it get involved. Outside of that Lewis’ recruitment is hard to project because of his young age. He’s off to a great start this season and looked impressive in a recent game against Newark (NJ) Barringer High School.
