ARLINGTON, Tex. – At this point, Ken Seals probably know what coaches are going to say to him before the words come out of their mouth.

The 2020 Rivals250 quarterback has been one of the most proactive campers in his class, and feels as though he’s done well enough to for coaches at the programs he’s thrown for to like him, but it always comes back to one thing. His experience across the board can be pretty well summed up with the feedback that he got after a recent college prospect camp at Texas Tech.

“Coach told me that he wants to wait through the first couple of games to see how I develop,” he said. “They like the way I throw, they’re just looking to see how I do when people are coming to tackle me. That’s been the message that I’ve been getting most during the summer.”

Many of the coaches he’s thrown for this offseason have all told him something to the effect of they’re just waiting to see film from his first few games this season – if they weren’t already planning to come out and see him in person. For Seals, that's a bit of a tough proposition, as he plays for a Weatherford program that has had a tough time scratching together wins over the past few seasons.

“I’m not worried or anything but there is definitely some nervousness knowing I have to perform with those guys planning on being there,” he said. “I’m just going to do my thing, not let it get to my head, just play the best game that I know how to do and just know that if it goes well that I’ll get the benefits from it.”

Seals was one of just four quarterbacks at last Saturday’s Prime 21 camp at Arlington-Martin High School. He was also the quarterback MVP at the Dallas event of the Rivals 3 Stripe Camp Series presented by adidas earlier this spring. At the end of this month, when many programs begin welcoming prospects back onto their campuses, Seals will throw at two more camps – TCU on the 27th and Baylor on the 29th.

IN HIS WORDS

On TCU

“I’ve always loved going to TCU,” he said. “They look like they’ve had more interest in dual-threat quarterbacks and they actually look pretty stacked – very well off the next couple of years as far as quarterbacks go – but I still want to go out there and compete and show them what I can do.

“Since they’re so close and I’ve been going to their camps since I was in sixth grade, it’s almost a sentimental thing to get out there for Coach (Sonny) Cumbie and Coach (Gary)Patterson to see me and how I’ve progressed.”

On how often he communicates with Cumbie

“Whenever I call him and we have a conversation,” he said. “He came and saw me during spring ball and stayed for a whole scrimmage day … So he got to see me play live a little bit – more than some other schools have – so that was cool for him to come out to Weatherford and do that. Other than that, it’s just been us on the phone, talking and things.”

On LSU, where he camped at the end of June

“That was awesome,” he said. “It was me and about six other quarterbacks and Coach (Steve) Ensminger and Coach O [Ed Orgeron] were all kind of focusing their attention on us … Coach Ensminger came up to me after the camp and loved me, the way I throw and everything I do. He said that he’s going to try and get out to see me Week 1, so I’m really excited about that.”

On Oklahoma State, where he camped in early July

“I have been talking with Coach (Mike) Yurcich and I actually had the chance to talk to Coach (Mike) Gundy after the camp,” he said. “They really want to see my film and I know Coach Yurcich is going to try and make it out sometime in the first three games – whenever his schedule matches up – he really wants to see me and how I do … hopefully he’ll see me have a good game and make an offer.”
