SAN ANTONIO - Nathaniel Jones could be one of the next big-time prospects to come out of powerhouse Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco and one team early in his recruitment has caught his attention.

UCLA stands out most according to Jones, who talked recently at the Army National Combine. He also has Oregon, Utah and Arizona offers on his early list.

There’s one big reason - a coach - that makes the Bruins so attractive.

“It’s (running backs coach) DeShaun Foster,” Jones said. “I just like him and it feels like family.”

It’s probably an added bonus for the 2020 prospect that coach Chip Kelly has taken over in Westwood. That has certainly caught Jones’ attention.

“Their mindset changed,” Jones said. “I like him and I like how he’s used running backs, too.”

There is no rush to Jones’ recruitment especially since only four Pac-12 teams have offered so far. No others are showing interest but Bosco is a national program and Jones could have the talent to garner national offers.

His relationship with Foster, though, is not going away and it could help the Bruins over the long term.

“It’s good,” Jones said. “We talk daily. I haven’t talked to him recently but I can talk to him whenever. It’s been good with him.”
