Early leader for Alabama DT

Hoover (Ala.) defensive tackle Kerry Murphy is recovering from off-season surgery, is getting looks from schools that traditionally recruit the state of Alabama and currently has a No. 1 school on his early list.
"My first favorite school is Alabama," Murphy said. "My brother played there, but he got hurt. A lot of my family are big Alabama fans, except my mom. She likes Auburn."

The 6-foot-4, 315-pounder suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee during preseason practice, but played the entire season for the Bucs and also in the North-South All-Star game in December.
"It wasn't that bad to play on," Murphy said. "During a game, I would get really pumped up and wouldn't feel it. But it feels better now. I will be ready for spring practice."
Alabama, Vanderbilt, Clemson and Louisville all have been sending letters. Murphy currently doesn't have an written scholarship offers.
Murphy had 36 tackles (seven for loss) as a junior last season.
